Bikes: 1973 Eisentraut; 1970s Richard Sachs; 1978 Alfio Bonnano; 1967 Peugeot PX10

Best shows?
P-Funk, 1979, Cap Center.
Mekons, late eighties, Trax in C'ville

Other memorables: Clash, Television, Public Enemy, Talking Heads, Thomas Mapfumo (absolutely superb, actually), King Crimson (several times), Merle Haggard (don't knock Merle), Richard Thompson (multiple times, the best by far being at the Iriqious CLub in Roanoke)

Worst shows: Grateful Dead (wasn't too bad because I nodded off they were so boring), Clash (second time, awful).

All time worst: Jefferson Starship. I actually went to see Rory Gallagher, who was opening for them. Unbeknownest to me, Paul Kantner had used a particularly derogatory term for an Irishman to Gallagher and Gallagher, despite reportedly being a very mild human being, beat the crap out him. Neither Kantner or Gallagher were there that night. Kantner I could have easily dealt without, but the loss of the G-man was a mortal blow.

Just plain weird: the very first Gwar show ever, at the New Horizons cafe in RVA years back. I had gone to HS with Chuck Vargas, who developed many of their costumes with Hunter Jackson. At that point, everything was made of paper mache and the main prop was Joy dishwashing liquid. Chuck and Hunter had been trying to make a sci-fi movie in the old Milk Bottle building, and a local punk band, Death Piggy, was practicing next door. Somehow this merged/mutated into Gwar.
