Bottom line is no matter what you have on it is going to look bad to someone. If you don't normally wear Tweed and Houndstooth in your everyday life but put it on just to take the 3 speed down to the local coffee shop then you look just as "geared up" as the full tilt roadie.(In my opinion anyway)

I was thinking about getting some form of Steampunk goggles/sunglasses to wear on my organized rides. "Wouldn't that be cool I thought? Pulling up beside someone and giving them the cool stare before I surge off!" Then it occurred to me that they would be thinking, "what a doofus! He's out here riding the race in his Halloween costume!"

Find a helmet that fits and works for you. Don't worry so much about getting the image just right.
