If the group is small and you cannot have any organized stops along the way, consider starting from a point with two nice loops instead of one, so you can ride one, have a pit stop, then doing the second. You then have two different sceneries(sp?) with nobody sitting down on a picnic table with a crate of gatorade waiting.
