I get mixed responses from my lascivious cycling shorts. Alot of people love 'em, especially the way they emphasize the good physical condition that cyclists generally are in. Alot of people are a bit embarassed by them because they are so tight and show off bulges in all the right (wrong?) places.
I do notice that cyclists wearing colorful spandex gear do get more notice and respect on the highways. I think its because they feel you are more serious--perhaps a racer, or a team member, etc--and they admire that.
I only wear the tights in chilly weather; alot of that lately in New England.
As you know in Muslim countries they frown on wearing clothing that 'shows the outline of the body.' On my world tour I cycled in shorts but when I went into a cafe or at the end of the day I would have a pair of baggy long pants i'd slip on. In most areas the folks I talked to didn't seem to care, they assumed you were from a non-Muslim country and the cycling gear was more comfortable for riding.
