In the forum's tradition of not answering the real question, this thread is off to a rousing start. OK, a carbon fork, particularly this one, won't save any weight, improve the ride or improve the handling. We, and the OP, all realize that. However, his father doesn't and why burst his bubble?

To the OP: The fork you show should fit his bike and is the least costly carbon option I know about. Maybe the canti/V-brake studs unthread so they won't be as obvious. Go for it.
