Rob, I'm in Japan but I'm guessing it's the same there. Bike shops sell clearance models here around Oct, as they are clearing for the next year's model.
This time of year might be a little early.
Also personally, I'd take the TREK because I had nothing but trouble with the avid bb5 calipers. Both front and back snapped on me.
