Custom is important if you have un usual body dimensions. However for the average rider, custom is often oversold. The majority of riders can get a perfect fit by just getting the right size stem, bars, seatpost (including straight of offset), and cranks. I know from experience - I got a custom Ti and noted years later it's exactly the same as a standard steel and CF frames I have.
