The problem with kick stands and light gauge tubing is that it is really easy to turn that big ole bolt one or two or three cranks beyond snug and mash the chainstays. I have seen it over and over. If you cross your heart will not mash your chainstays, they are handy things. CR would consider one inappropriate on your vintage Legnano, though...
