My asking for a discount on a bike will temporarily affect the bottom line, but the shop will make up for it when I come back to buy accessories at an over-inflated price. Not to mention what the shop owner pays for the shop, employees, utilities, insurance, banking, accounting, sponsorship, donations, shipping/freight, and other costs of doing business.
