UPDATE: I have been riding this bike like crazy lately. I have two centuries on it, many commutes, road rides and even some pretty serious mountain biking. For those who know the Boise foothills, I have been hitting Camelsback-Kestrel-Redcliffs-Chickadee a lot lately before commuting home. This past weekend I trucked on down from Meridian to Seaman's Gulch and ran a few fast laps on the trailhead across from the dump. I have not bothered to mount up the knobbies and have been running this thing on those trails with the 25c conti ultra races pictured above. I have been amazed at how fast this bike is when climbing off road. I hardly ever take it off road when I don't pass quite a few people both climbing and descending.

It is a wicked fast machine and seems to be chomping at the bit. One place it particularly shines is when accelerating offroad relative to my buddies on mountain bikes. On less technical trails like BuckTail/Shanes Loop it blows the mountain bikes away even with road tires.

If anyone is waffeling on getting a Jake the Snake vs a Major Jake, I really can't tell that much difference and HIGHLY RECOMMEND either model.
