If you don't mind the low-end fork that comes with the Bruiser 1, and if it's wheels are disc-capable, I would take take the same path as jsi. You really can't beat the avid brakes. The Hayes my bike came with are still good, but the avids are better. I'll post some pics once my brother gets home with his camera later today if I can.
