I'm perplexed about how to install a new cable for a Shimano 3 speed. Putting the cable on the shifter makes sense, routing the cable makes sense, but where the cable terminates at the knurled adjustment screw at the hub has me confused.
How does the end of the cable get anchored here?
The original had a cast in place that was inside the knurled adjuster; I obviously can't reproduce this. I bought a new cable expecting it to be the same but the new cable has just a bare plain end; looks like the one below:


I could try to crimp something on the end but Im afraid I couldn't get it to hold well enough under pressure
