I'm all for teaching children to be safe pedestrians, and to always look both ways before crossing the street. I am a stickler for that sort of thing with my kids. BUT you are asking a gaggle of 6-year-olds hopping off the bus after a day of school to stop, look both ways, and generally act like adults. No matter how much we teach our kids to be careful, they fail on a regular basis. They are kids-- kids make poor decisions several times per day. No amount of training them will fix that, to be honest. And that's why people riding on wheels, either bicycle or auto, should stop for stop signs. Bikes have the luxury of walking the bike past the bus. Poor car drivers get stuck there the whole time the kids are meandering down the bus aisle. Suckers.
