I greatly prefer wet lubes over dry or wax lubes, though riders in really dry dusty conditions (e.g. desert mtb) might benefit from them.
The Chain L smell dissipates after a few days. I just cleaned and lubed my commuter bike's chain with Chain L. I had forgotten about the smell of a freshly lubed Chain L chain, though it doesn't bother me. The temporary smell is well worth the service intervals. That bike gets lots of use on my 27 mile r/t commute, and I am able to go well over 500 miles between lubes.
