I just flipped through the '85 catalog and it seems that yes, the only difference is the components. Haven't checked on later years. In fact the only difference between the SR500 and SR600 in 1985 is the SR600 has a tubular wheelset. I have an '85 SR500 that has some pretty components on it. Black ano chainrings on a SunTour Superbe Pro crankset. Cyclone derailleurs and hubs which use pressed in sealed bearings that are still running buttery smooth after 26 years. It's a bit small for me at 53cm but I can still ride it with out to much modifying. The thread on it... http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...ale-SR500-1985
