You're right. I made the assumption the OP would label such a device, but upon re-reading the post, it wasn't said anywhere.

As I said if they're unconscious or in a coma than they cannot give out their own medical information. Also they could be in so much pain that they would be incoherent and again would not be able to give out said info.
If the labeled device was found (unlikely, IMO), then the person wouldn't need to be conscious.

The bracelet that I've mentioned in other posts has a red cross on it indicating what it is.
And I agree a bracelet or some other identifier on the person is a better solution.
