Old Motobecane Nomade Can I fix it up?
My dad got this old Motobecane bike and I was in the market for a new bike recently but my funds are pretty low and the bikes they have out are not cheap. So I took this bike for an hour ride the other day and I quite enjoyed it's speed and comfort. It is an older bike. Most of the rear derailluer chains work fine, but the front ones do not. There is only 2 speeds for the front which isn't a big deal because that's all I really need. I think 3 is just too much. But I just want a bike that I can use to ride like 20-30 miles a day for quite a while until maybe someday I can afford a newer bike. The rear tire seemed kind of flat because every 4 seconds or so it felt like the rim was hitting the ground or something. The air pressure is pretty full but it just may be the tires were never changed or something. Anyways, I was wondering how much would it take to take the bike to a shop and they fix the gears/brakes/tires and just tune the whole thing up to run like new. The brakes are pretty shot as well. Can I get all this done at a LBS for under 100 dollars? Here are some pics:
