So he wanted you to cross the travel lanes to make your *left* turn?! I wouldn't write you a ticket for turning the way you did; sounds reasonable and the most legal to me. I see the other folks have already researched this. Maybe this guy was one of those folks that doesn't like bikes on the road (regardless of what the *law* says) until they have a chance to listen to someone who rides and who is an expert on the law.
