So regarding case hardening: how common was it to harden parts to a depth of .06", or even to be through hardened? Would Campy have done full hardening, where others did not? Are there general standards for bearing engineering that would have been commonly observed back in the '60s when Record hub cups and headset crown races were engineered?

Or can I have my old part through-hardened before it is re-ground?
