^ in its final set-up before the collision, i was rolling on a Vuelta Zerolite wheelset ($100/set from nashbar) with Ritchey "Tom Slick" tires ($25 each from biketiresdirect). i absolutely loved the set-up for summer commuting, especially considering the prices i paid. i would highly recommend the vuelta zerolites to anyone. don't let the super-low price fool you, they'd be a great wheelset at even twice the price. a perfect combination of strength, weight, and value. the tom slicks (26" x 1.0") rolled great, but they might have been a bit on the narrow side for the rims. were i to do it over, i'd have gone with a 1.25" at a minimum on the zerolite rims.
