Granted, I could rattle off about 16 names of young adults I have worked with this year that would indicate the exact opposite of the point you are trying to make. While I cannot due to privacy issues, I can say that since becoming fascinated with the wonderful ways of the whacky weed, they have become involved in gangs, grades have plummeted, and arrest for minor and major crime has become an issue. With out going to P&R, the above mentioned anecdotes do not even begin to touch the issues related with the chain of events that allow these potentially productive young adults to gain access to it...
But we all know anecdotes are worthless for these kinds of discussions eh?
To get this back on track, as an adult you should have enough of an education to understand that pulling any smoke into your lungs on a regular basis is going to be detrimental to the functioning of your lungs.

"In 1992 a team of Tashkin's explored the effect of THC potency on respiratory functions.
"The present study was carried out to investigate the effects of escalating doses of THC administered in smoked marijuana on the ventilatory and mouth occlusion pressure responses to both hypercapnia [high levels of CO2] and hypoxia [low levels of O2] and on resting minute ventilation and metabolic rate in young, healthy experienced male users of marijuana."(26)
The study found no effect of THC on ventilation, oxygen consumption, carbon dioxide production, or metabolic rate. The only effects of THC noted were that:
"The habitual marijuana smokers participating in this study exhibited a significant increase in heart rate, subjective intoxication (high), and decrease in airway resistance after smoking the active preparations of marijuana, but not placebo marijuana. These findings are consistent with the known cardioaccelerator, psychotropic, and bronchodilator effects of THC."(27)"

"SUMMARY
After experimental induction of acute bronchospasm in 8 subjects with clinically stable bronchial asthma, effects of 500 mg of smoked marijuana (2.0 per cent Delta 9-tetrahydrodrocannabinol) on specific airway conductance and thoracic gas volume were compared with those of 500 mg of smoked placebo marijuana (0.0 per cent Delta 9-tetrahydrocannabinol), 0.25 ml of aerosolized saline, and 0.25 ml of aerosolized isoproterenol (1,250 ug). Bronchospasm was induced on 4 separate occasions, by inhalation of methacholine and, on four other occasions, by exercise on a bicycle ergometer or treadmill. Methacholine and exercise caused average decreases in specific airway conductance of 40 to 55 per cent and 30 to 39 per cent, respectively, and average increases in thoracic gas volume of 35 to 43 per cent and 25 to 35 per cent, respectively. After methacholine-induced bronchospasm, placebo marijuana and saline inhalation produced minimal changes in speci! fic airway conductance and thoracic gas volume, whereas 2.0 per cent marijuana and isoproterenol each caused a prompt correction of the bronchospasm and associated hyperinflation. After exercise-induced bronchospasm, placebo marijuana and saline were followed by gradual recovery during 30 to 60 min, whereas 2.0 per cent marijuana and isoproterenol caused an immediate reversal of exercise-induced asthma and hyperinflation."

its amazing how far these dumb marijuana users will go to conduct "non-biased" research to "test hypotheses" regarding the effects of marijuana.
i cant believe that they have tricked so many medical and scientific researchers into publishing results which are friendly to marijuana.
at least we can rest assured that the average dumb stoned-cyclist is too lazy to actively pursue research information regarding the facts of marijuana.
i laff when i think about them just sitting on the couch and wasting life.
i would be so angry if i saw one of those types trying to pass themselves off as a fully functioning member of society, that also contributes in both political and private forums.
i bet eating all those snacks keeps them from cycling, attending a college full-time, working out (starting strength program), maintaining multi-year personal relationships, working 28+ hours a week, and all the other things normal people do.
cant wait to watch glenn beck soon! i love being fed information i know is not incorrect!
