I didn't look at a thermometer this morning, but it was definitely warm. They say we need to get used to it, as the heat is here to stay. I saw 104 on a business thermometer thingie yesterday afternoon.
Rode to metro this morning and made AMAZING time on the MUP (16.0 MPH average speed from start to finish) but I credit that primarily to arriving at the one stop light on the route while it was green. Perhaps I should have taken it easier this morning, though -- I was pretty much dripping sweat the entire metro ride, and the train was CROWDED! I even brought a spare t-shirt to throw over my duo-dry top, but it wasn't enough to keep me from dripping. I may need to rethink my summer commuting plan a bit if the heat really does keep up. Bought a new
mirror to replace my lost one. Haven't really had a chance to try it 'under fire' as my entire ride today was MUP, but it appears to be functional. Same brand, but different model than the last one, and the mirror on this one is MUCH tighter in its socket, which might prevent the loss I experienced with the other. If not, I'll be looking for an alternative this weekend :-)
Tomorrows plan is to ride home to work and back... maybe it will be cooler?
Re-learned a lesson yesterday when I went for a quick jaunt near dusk: Bugs swarm at dusk, esp. around creeks. At least I managed not to get any up my nose.
