Good points guys... thanks.
I cheated the warmup by 5 minutes (I almost always do), because it takes me 15 minutes vs. the intended 20 minutes to get to my workout hill. I, too, generally don't generate as much power on the first rep, so the lack of warmup is probably contributing to it, even though I am sweating by then due to the weather warming up.
For whatever reason, I was also in a pissed off mood this morning. Cars and lights were driving me crazy, and I wasn't able to take the Zen approach with them. Traffic may drive me to become a trackie. Except... oops... we have no track here!
AJ, the rest intervals were supposed to be 2-3 minutes. In reality, they are whatever it takes me to get back down the hill and find a traffic break for a U turn to start back up. After the first rep the rest was almost 4 minutes because of a thundering herd of cars at my turnaround point (cuss, swear). ~3 for the others. I've done this workout several times, though with looser power targets (as in, just get the eff up the hill). This was designed for 70-75rpm, same as in the past, but with a specific power range.
Here are the averages:
......Watts....RPM
#1.....373......75
#2.....370......70
#3.....359......70
#4.....353......67
Coach thinks part of it was the 30/30's I did two days ago, and I'm on orders to take some protein drink to work to aid my recovery, as the intervals are generally done on my way to work.
