I threw in the "maybe even slightly above average" because the OP said something like - "some parts appear to have been protected"-

Fully 15 of the 30 bikes I received had the stem, pedals, front wheel,seat post removed-everything dumped in old bike box-taped shut-and shipped.No extra padding.This bike apparently received some extra padding/attention-according to the OP-I forget exactly what he said,so I'm not quoting him.

This is how used ebay bikes in this price range are shipped-
UNLESS YOU INSTRUCT MOTIVATE THE SELLER TO MAKE SOME SPECIAL EFFORT-THIS IS WHAT YOU WILL PROBABLY GET.
Punishing an average ebay bike seller just chases him off and it means we will have fewer relatively inexpensive bikes to look at on ebay .Certainly fewer quirky midrange French bikes.
Heck he almost deserved to have it dented for buying oddball French stuff (just kidding-but why did they have to have their own BB specs-the Italian stuff is frequently beautiful,so they have an excuse)


TELL THEM HOW TO PACK IT AND GIVE THEM A REASON TO PACK IT WELL-"I love your bike I just bought" , or send them a few extra $$.
