...to extend the embarrassment of a slow-motion clipless pedal fail.
since i first got clipless pedals early last year, i fell only once...maybe the 2nd ride. until yesterday: i went out for some central park laps, and at the end i went to roll up to refill my water. the water fountain is up on a sidewalk with a curb about 6'' off the street.
i roll up, clip out of one pedal, come to a stop, and then realize i'm leaning too far on the unclipped side. i start trying to shake my foot out, which turns into this
ridiculous hop-shimmy-hop dance. it takes approximately 3 and a half hours for me to actually hit the ground, or so it seemed. i fall off the curb with my
bike still attached, pointing nearly straight up into the air. somehow my chain fell off. no real injuries except to the ego and my right brake lever. a guy says "are you hurt?" i say "nope, just embarrassed." he says "it's ok i won't tell anyone." there are about 200 people watching this

i pedal home, clean myself up, hang out, go out to dinner, etc.
SIX hours later, as i'm falling asleep, my ankle and foot starts to swell and hurt horribly, and i'm up all night icing it. in the morning the pain has stopped but range of motion is a bit limited.
so there goes my weekend ride.
