I have a set on a bike i have. The bike is completely dismantled and now that im ready to put the shifters back on, i cant figure them out. THey are indexed/friction but they appear spring loaded which i guess makes sense.

I have a set of suntours and those stop when they are parallel with th downtube. These you can push past that point on the front gear selector almost so much that it is pointed straight down. what is going on here? IM sure i have somthing wrong. Seems like it should be pretty straight forward but it has me confused.
