Good, because I am trying to find out what others in my age group do as far as riding and training. I have been riding for 1 1/2 years on my hybrid and on my road bike for only 8 months. Since then, I have put on close to 2,000 miles on the road bike and have over 2,500 on the hybrid that I bought in July of last year. The rest of the time was on the comfort bike my wife gave me for my 63rd birthday, which I gave to my brother who's 61.
Since I have had my road bike, I have done several long distance charity rides, including the MS 150 last month. I try and get in 20 miles a day and 30 to 40 miles a day on the weekends, unless I am training for a ride. I'm not the fastest rider on my cycling team. I normally try and keep an 18 mph pace, but I have kept a faster one (20+) but only for about 3 or 4 miles at a time.
I'm not sure what most of the other riders in this age group are doing, but I have read some posts that pretty much put me to shame. It really doesn't bother me that others go faster and for longer periods, I attribute that to them riding for more years than I have. I would like to know what you guys do, as I am always looking to better myself in anything that I do.
