Congrats! At long last your new steed has arrived.
Couple of thoughts - you can cut the bars to suit your preferences (I also dislike the ridiculously wide bars that come on most bikes).
What I really like is a bar cut down to a reasonable width with ergo grips and bar ends. The grips make life MUCH more livable and the bar-ends offer a more "hood"-like riding position, which I prefer. The bar-ends also provide a superior hand position for climbing, too.
