Just re-reading this and seeing the comments about upsetting one's stomach with a pint or two... It's a pretty typical randonneuring thing to see people stopped for a meal and a pint on a 300k or longer ride. I'm not talking about a quick stop for a powerbar and a light beer, either. We're talking about full on, sit-down meal brought out by a waiter; big old cheeseburger, plate of onion rings, and a pint of wee heavy.
I've done a 300k where my 130k lunch stop was 2 gas-station corn dogs, a sack of potato chips, a Snickers bar and a Pepsi. It was my best finish time ever for 300k.
Heck, one of my favourite pix from the Last Chance 1200k is a member of our club sitting in a chair in front of a general store, enjoying a Silver Bullet tall boy at around the 900km mark.
