Thanks for the link. I've been very interested in Rabobank's experimentation with this, though I haven't personally tried it to see what effect it had. I've been won over by the Hammer theory that it's not digestion that's the limitation, but rather what you can get across the stomach wall, and that malto crosses that wall more easily than do sugars because of osmolality. I'm pretty sure that's true to some extent - trained LD folks can handle up to 100g/hr., but possibly only because intensity is lower than for a TdF rider. It's an interesting discussion, anyway. Straight Coke might be a little much, but if you water it down you lose the nutritional intensity and there's also the carbonation issue.
