Doesn't seem like a deal at all. I know, I know the bike was free and a gift. You can see by being faster than all of the people that you ride with that it's not about the bike - it's about the rider but don't need to throw good money after bad just to make this bike work.
Not quite...you're reading more into my words than I put into them...

The shifters weren't defective, they just didn't meet my particular demands. And I wouldn't call my time spent in adjustments or even all the work in general "countless hours"...in the month or so I've owned the bike and the 250+ miles on it, I've spent four hours tops working on the bike...my initial lengthy time spent adjusting was mostly due to my inexperience adjusting derailleurs.

On top of that, any new bike is expected to require frequent initial adjustments as the cables stretch...it's not unique to the Denali...

The bottom bracket as I've mentioned before is a problem with my particular bike, I haven't seen it on other Denalis. Tons of people choose to replace the stock saddle on any bike, and I never said the brakes suck with the new brake pads. They are perfectly adequate.

The bike works fine, and as you can see above I'm not the only one satisfied with it.
