+1 on Santa Cruz Bike Church. And it's only a block from the Santa Cruz Metro bus terminal.

If you don't have wheels, catch the Highway 17 bus downtown San Jose. $5 for the bus ride over the hill, $10 for a day pass good on all Santa Cruz Metro and VTA buses. Bike racks on the buses (but they're frequently full, so plan ahead).
