Not sure why longbeachgary even bothers with this thread, but I guess it's because he's got a lot invested in the sport, and considers anyone that pays $159 + $15.50 = $174.50 + free shipping, shouldn't enjoy themselves.
But hey, it's a excellent "starter" bike. As I gain more experience and knowledge of biking in general...I'm sure I will outgrow this bike.
But I had a blast today! Instead of sitting around the house (burning up some excess vacation time), I rode from Marina Del Rey to Pacific Palisades (15.5 miles). Not bad for my 1st excursion.
Zero problems with the shifters and brakes once I figured out how everything worked. Probably needs an initial tuneup which I will have done this week.
My max speed was 17.5 mph (average speed was only 7.3 mph), but it's my weak (couch tv) legs and those dog gone bikinis that slowed me down, and not the bike.
I don't know if the top end bikes have great saddles or not, but the Denali saddle definitely needs upgrading. This evening I plan to pick up that Serfas saddle as well as a lock, so I can park it and get a little more sun & exercise tomorrow.
Hey longbeachgary, sorry I'm enjoying life on the cheap! NOT!!!
