The FTP was designed and built as a velodrome racer only, and there are a few things that are much more important on the track than weight. After stiffness and durability are covered, weight is probably important. But ask any track racer and they will take a boat anchor with zero flex over a light weight but flexable ride. Since there are no hills to climb on the track weight isnt a huge concern.
