Perfect! I loosened the bolt, which allowed it to travel a bit, and I am now able to shift again. I tightened the bolt back up, but it might take some repositioning.

This might sound weird, but it seemed like the shifter was stuck in a 3rd-gear position, even though it's a double. (And there was no audible noise from the front derailleur when I was riding home, so the derailleur itself wasn't in the 3rd gear position. If that makes sense. )
