Good instructions for setting up and adjusting derailleurs can be found at www.parktool.com. Do ALL of the steps in sequence leaving nothing out.

There have been problems reported from "over-shifting" when using triple compatible shifters on a double. Cable stretch could lead to this problem. And be careful when setting the front derailleur's high limit screw. It's there to keep the derailleur from moving too far out.
