I use strips on inner tubes as a base as well as "O rings." They will work on anything - but of course they aren't "cool." I also tried the rock block but did not like it as well. I can position a light more easily with my home made rubber bands than ayn store bought mount.

The key is to put a rubber band on the light as well - so you have rubber pivoting on rubber -I can't see why you need anything else.
