First measure from the hole to the center of the break track on the rim and check that the new brakes will fit. Second you only have to drill the back of the hole for the nut, do not drill all the way through or the brake will move around. The spacers the came with the original brakes can be reused, just the washer in the back needs to be drilled for the recessed nut. The spacers i'm talking about are flat on one side and half round on the other for the brake bridge or to match the fork profile. If you have a frame and the orignal parts are long I don't know where to go. edit: I changed the brakes on my 79' Shogun, front would not work on stock fork and I bought a carbon fork, no problem. Rear just bearly fits, pads are at the edge of the top of the rim.
