I'm a Swede, living in Gothenburg. I think it's positive that the politicians are thinking pro-bike, but this proposal does not feel thought through. I think they want an "easy fix". Riding in the wrong direction on one-way streets seams fine, as long as the street is wide enough, but running red lights... Sounds dangerous. Why not improve the intersections instead? At most of the bike-only traffic signals in Sweden, the bicyclist have to push a button to get green. Something that really would make bicyclists less frustrated is to install sensors that recognize the bikers, so they won't have to push any buttons. I think such improvements would do a whole lot for cyclists.
