You might not have this problem.

What I have seen people do (riding in the middle of the lane) abruptly turn (cutting the corner) (basically in front of other riders). What you want to do is make a clean arc to make your turns.

If you are used to riding alone, you can get away with all sorts of "sloppy" bike handling. At best, that sort of stuff is annoying. At worse, it causes crashes.

On group rides, you want to get to the point of being predictable and looking predictable as well.

Anything that is abrupt (that can be avoided by planning/paying-attention) should be avoided.

It takes a bit of experience to get the appropriate situational-awareness. Some people never get it.
