The important thing is that if you are in area you are familiar with, being dropped is not an issue. That is, there is really a zero-cost to being dropped and there might be benefit to exposing yourself to that zero-cost risk.

I happen to like group riding (the camaraderie as well as the cooperation skills that it requires).
