You see, there's a big difference between pissing off the wife because you go ride for 4 hours on a Sunday when she wanted to do something else, and dissapointing your kids because you pulled the same act on them. Far too often I made the choice to do my thing, because my thing is important to me.
I'm no longer married to the twin's mother and they live with her, 1700 miles away from me. I get them in the summers, and we do the standard every-other-holiday routine. I do talk to them on the phone once a week or so, which is nice....BUT, don't let this tale of woe get you down because there is a bright side! I get to ride over 200 miles a week, have an appartment full of bikes, can ride my stationary trainer at 0300 in the morning if I want to, and have no trouble what so ever running off to bike races every weekend, so I win! Or do I?
Bottom line: Raising kids is hard. They monopolize your time and cash. They also take over parts of your life that used to be exclusively yours. I would never advise you to have kids, or not have kids, but I will tell you to choose wisely because both roads are hard, and the road I ended up taking is harder yet. Good luck with your decision.

Best response of the day... also the one which helps me the least. Bravo!
