I can control the training of my athletes, the equipment they have and I can standardise our navigation patterns, behaviours and so on.
I can't control the other clubs, the peak sporting body or the other sports and sporting bodies that share the same river.
We can do everything 'right' and still kill someone.
(FTR we are rowers and share the river with canoe, kayak and dragonboat paddlers. There are three peak sporting bodies involved - Rowing, Canoe, Dragonboat)
