It's arguable what's "best." Personally I'd agree with what you're looking at, Gary Fisher Mamba, Cannondale Trail SL2, Cannondale Trail SL3, Giant Talon 29er 1 and Specialized Rockhopper Comp.

As someone said, sizing may vary; also where the manufacturer focuses the "value" may vary; so ride some and see what you like.
