op: You're spending money for no reason. Return the bb or just stash it for a future project, keep the existing cranks, and simply buff off the rust if it's just on the surface and the part is not actually falling apart.
Yeah, but most are meant for gears, meaning shorter teeth, which means it'll be easier to drop a chain. Either way, I'm happy with the setup I have now, probably won't have any need to change it in the near future.
