That's rediculous. You can make the same mistake with any tire. Could have just as easily happened with a Gatorskin.
If you're willing to pay more for your tires, there's no reason not to train or do recreational rides on nicer tires.
Truthfully I wouldn't normally be able to afford nice tires but having just received birthday money I was able to make the purchase. I wanted to get something nice and I had heard nothing but good about the michelin's. I'm sure I'll go back to some thick heavy training tire after I detonate a few more tubes.
