I bought a set of beautiful Campagnolo Montreal 76's laced to 600 Tricolor (front) and Mavic (rear), both so smooth, complete with red nipples too....but they're so funky!

It was my impression that ETRTO 622 meant 700c. I also looked on Velobase to confirm that these rims came in 700c. When I compared them to my 700c tires, they're tiny!


I put them on my Competition and the 600 brakes don't even reach. I can now clear the top-tube comfortably though:


My questions:
1. Why are the wheels so small? What tires will fit?
2. What are these ugly skewers?

3. Will the 8-speed Sachs+Mavic hub snap at the axle?

4. Most importantly, what should I do with these wheels?
