The "show your red bar tape" thread inspired me to finally fix up the old Gitane I had hanging in the garage over the weekend. I had a bunch of spare parts left over from past projects I was able to put to use.
Cleaned and re-packed headset, BB, hubs and used Simple Green to clean the frame which worked great.
upgraded parts new to the bike include:
Wrights leather saddle
MKS quill pedals
Suntour Vx-GT front and rear derailleurs
SR stem
Dia-Compe brake levers, calipers, and top tube cable clips
Specialized Armadillo tires
The frame pump and h-bar bag I will "borrow" from my Lotus when I ride this bike.
New parts i had to end up buying:
brake cables & housing
new chain
Tressotar cloth bar wrap
inner tubes
"After" After V2.0
now with a wald rear rack, H2O bottle cage and fenders (take-offs from a Redline Mero 9 I picked up from the LBS for cheap-cheap) I also added toe clips and straps from my junk pile, and moved the h-bar bag to the saddle to make room for a headlight (soon to be added)

This is going to be my rainy day/commuter bike during the summer (when we get most of our rain here in FL)
