I think there is a lot of fear and loathing about traction/tires in many circles. IMHO, if you are pushing your tires that hard that you need that last tiny iota of performance than you need to get off the public roads and onto a track or closed-course area. Sure the performance of high-end tires is better than the cheap ones, but the point of diminishing returns get passed really early on in the price/quality curve -especially in modern tires. This isn't 1972 any more. Even cheap tires are pretty darn good.
Quality is not only about price - you can buy tires at twice the price of the Pasellas, and have them blow off catastrophically.
