I used to call myself a hobby photographer, but now I call myself a hobby cyclists.
The two, for me, are sadly mutually exclusive. I love photography, and I got quite proficient and amassed a collection of film-cameras, developers and films. When I commuted by bus, I could carry my equipment everywhere - all my friends knew I'd show up with at least one camera strap across my shoulder. I'd go to work with my heavy Mamiya C330 and go shoot after the shift, or take a rangefinder with me to the bar.
But a C330 is a pain to carry on a bike, and the vibration and jolts knocked my rangefinder out of alignment. Last time I carried my SLR, an east-German Praktica, on a bike, I was assaulted by a road-raging driver who knocked me off the bike and then beat me up, so the mental link isn't quite as lovely.
And so, I haven't shot a frame in at least two months. Barely two rolls of film since I ditched the bus-system at the start of March.
